How Does NovusAer Perform in Real Homes vs. Lab Conditions?

Everything performs differently in a real home compared to a laboratory. In a lab, every variable is controlled: temperature, airflow, humidity, particle size, particle concentration—everything is set to meet the precise requirements of ASHRAE Standard 52. Below is a photo of the NovusAer undergoing testing at Blue Heaven Technologies.

A home, on the other hand, is a beautifully unpredictable environment. Airflow changes constantly. Temperature and humidity fluctuate. Doors open, pets wander in and out, kids run around, furnaces cycle on and off, and outside air leaks in through cracks and gaps (what we call infiltration). It is, in every way, the opposite of a controlled lab. Here’s a typical NovusAer installation in a home:

For comparison, here are the testing results from the lab and from real home installations:
Lab Test Results from Blue Heaven Technologies
E1 (0.3–1 micron nano particles): 99% efficient
E2 (PM2.5 ultrafine particles, 1–3 microns): 100% efficient
E3 (fine particles, 3–10 microns): 100% efficient
These combined results place NovusAer within striking distance of true HEPA performance (99.97%). (The actual test report is available on this website at the bottom of the NovusAer tab page.)
Real-World In-Home Measurements
Using laser particle counters in occupied homes, we see:
E1 (0.3–1 micron): 98% efficient
E2 (1–3 microns, PM 2.5 particles): 99% efficient
E3 (3–10 microns): 100% efficient
Again—nearly HEPA efficiency, but measured in the real world, with all its daily chaos.
So, How Does NovusAer Really Perform?
Not perfectly. Nothing does—not outside a laboratory. But here’s what matters: NovusAer comes so close to its lab performance in real homes that the difference is practically negligible. In fact, it consistently delivers filtration levels closer to HEPA than any other whole-home residential product on the market.
When you put a NovusAer in your system, you’re not just getting strong lab numbers—you’re getting real-world results that actually hold up where it counts: inside your home, protecting your family, every hour of every day.
