Q: Hey Dan, how often do NovusAer filters need to be changed?

Great question—and the honest answer is: it depends.
Why Filter Life Varies
How long your NovusAer filter lasts depends largely on how your HVAC system is used and the conditions in and around your home.
For example, if your system’s fan runs continuously to clean the air (which we highly recommend), your filter will need to be replaced more frequently than one that only runs when heating or cooling kicks on.
Important Note: We’re not just saying that to sell more filters. The whole point of installing a NovusAer filter is to clean your air—and continuous circulation does that best.
Your Environment Matters
Where you live and how you live also play a big role in filter life. Here are some examples:
Dusty areas near construction zones, gravel pits, freeways, or fields = faster filter replacement
Busy households with kids, pets, or frequent visitors = more airborne particles = faster buildup
Quiet households with minimal traffic may get more life out of a single filter
What We’ve Seen in the Real World
Since installing our first prototype back in 2015, we’ve found that most NovusAer filters last about three years under normal conditions.
Some customers get even more. One woman—living alone in a quiet home—got five full years out of her filter. She kept her thermostat set to minimize HVAC use and didn’t run the fan continuously. Less air movement meant less filtering, and her filter stayed cleaner, longer.
The Bottom Line
Filter life varies, but for most homeowners, you can plan on changing your NovusAer filter every three years.
Still unsure? We’re happy to help you determine the best replacement schedule for your specific home and lifestyle.
